Yeah…
Everybody says loyalty matters…
Until it costs them something.
I learned the hard way,
Trust ain’t free. Had people at my table Plotting on me secretly.
Used to split the wins,
Used to split the losses.
Now they only hit my line When they counting what it cost
is. I was showing love,
They were keeping score.
Every favor turned into A reason they wanted more.
Funny how success Makes the masks fall off.
Some people celebrate your rise,
Others pray you fall off. I
seen jealousy hide
Behind a handshake.
I seen real friendships Disappear over small change.
That’s the loyalty tax,
Everybody can’t pay it.
They’ll say they got your back
Till the pressure gets dangerous.
Loyalty tax, Had to learn the hard way.
Some people ride with you,
Some just ride the wave.
Loyalty tax, Now I’m watching every move.
Because the people closest to you
Got the most to prove.
I stopped explaining myself,
Stopped chasing approval. If they switch sides,
That’s their choice, not my removal.
The circle got smaller,
The vision got bigger.
Less voices in my ear,
More focus on the picture.
I don’t hate nobody,
I just changed the access.
Some people lost me
Because they couldn’t match the effort.
Real ones don’t compete,
Real ones contribute.
When you win, they win too—
That’s something money can’t do.
Had to lose a few names
To protect the legacy.
Sometimes distance is love,
Sometimes distance is necessity.
And every lesson left a scar,
Every scar became wisdom.
Now I know the difference Between support and opportunism.
That’s the loyalty tax,
Everybody can’t pay it.
They’ll say they got your back
Till the pressure gets dangerous.
Loyalty tax,
Now
I’m moving
different. Built it from the ground up,
That’s why I’m protective.
Loyalty tax,
And the bill came due.
Lost a couple people,
Found out who was true.
No hard feelings… Just clear vision.
The circle got smaller… The mission got bigger.
