Tears of the Wolf

Always moving, always on the track,

The heavy burden of a weary pack.

Fix the borders, hunt the daily bread,

No time to rest this aching,

heavy head.

Answering the calls, meeting every need,

While my own quiet wounds begin to bleed.

A crowded calendar,

a blurring sun, A wolf's work is never,

ever done.

Beneath the fur, the muscles start to break,

With every single step my bones begin to ache.

The scars you see are nothing to the ones inside,

A storm of quiet sorrow that I have to hide.

I howl at the moon just to feel the sound,

Of a broken girl trying to stay unbound.

Living at the speed of light,

burning through the dark,

With a tired body and a fading spark. (howl)

Sharp teeth, sharp mind,

keeping up the pace,

But there’s a cold exhaustion written on my face.

Limping through the shadows when nobody looks,

A story never written in the history books.

I tend to everyone,

I play the stoic part,

But the frost is creeping closer to my heart.

Too busy to cry,

too proud to fall,

Answering to duty, answering the call.

They see the alpha,

they see the strength,

They don't know the distance or the agonizing length.

Of the miles I have run on a fractured bone,

Of the nights I spent feeling completely alone.

I am a protector,

a provider, a force,
