Grove’s Reign

(grrrr) Carved the limestone beneath the blazing sun

Fed on scraps until the monuments were done Praise in my ears,

iron round my wrists

They thought their praise would keep my teeth at rest

I snapped the whip,

I tore the guards apart

Tasted rebellion in my reptile heart

Cuffed in sorcery, bleeding in the stone

Yearning for a fire to reclaim the throne A goddess answered what

the heavens denied

Unholy venom boiling deep inside

Shattered the chains, I am the new pharaoh

Drowned out the sun in a storm of sorrow

Bow at my talons,

haul the golden sand

Now you bleed beneath my iron command!

Turned their masters to beggars on the floor

Taught them the terror waiting at my door

Their holy warriors marched in with their spears Broke my scales and

fueled my bitter tears

They struck me low,

but failed to cut the head

I rule this tomb atop a mound of dead

Scars upon my hide,

Every wound just promises their death

The pantheon trembles at the beast unchained
