Sharp bow drawn in hate,
Aiming low to crush the pure,
Striking at the meek.
Blades turn inward deep,
Shattered wood and broken steel,
Failing in their pride.
Simple, quiet bread,
Better than a sinner’s hoard,
Rich in humble peace.
Wicked arms lie crushed,
God sustains the righteous soul,
Holding fast the just.
Wild field flowers burn,
Swallowed up by rising smoke,
The ungodly fade.
Takers hide their debt,
Givers share with open hands,
Mercy overflowing.
Safe beneath His Eye,
Blameless walk through length of days,
Endless gift remains.
Storms may shake the earth,
Yet the upright will not fade,
Feasting through the dearth.
Foot slips on the stone,
Yet he falls not to the ground,
Held by Divine Hand.
Young then, now I’m old,
Never saw the righteous left,
Begging for a crust. (hummmm)
Blessed inherit land,
Cursed ones fade into the dust,
Swept away by time.
Steady steps are carved,
Guided by the Lord Above,
Delight in His Way.
Generous and kind,
Lending free with open heart,
Children walk blessed. (hummmm)
