No leather tonight.
No lights, no crowd,
no show.
Just rain on a motel window and everything I never let anyone
know
I'm not gonna make a bit out of this one.
I don't have it in me tonight.
I'm just gonna say it plain,
for once, and see if that's alright
I spent nine songs
crying about parking tickets
and dead plants and texts that said "k"
and maybe that was always easier than just saying,
plainly, that most days I'm not okay
Mascara in the rain isn't dramatic,
it's just what happens when you've cried about everything small
that there's nothing left to perform,
no bit left, no punchline,
no wall
Mascara in the rain
I'm not unbreakable,
I never really was
mascara in the rain
but I think that's finally,
finally okay, because
maybe nobody actually needed the rhinestones or the armor or the noise
maybe they just needed somebody real,
even broken, even this
I don't know if I believe that yet.
But I think I want to.
That's new.
Mascara in the rain
I think I'm gonna be okay
mascara in the rain
I think, maybe, for the first time,
I actually mean it
when I say
I'm gonna be okay
