How blest is he
whose heavy soul is free,
Whose dark transgressions find a healing grace,
And all his
sins are covered in the sea.
How blest the one whose faults the Lord will chase
Away from mind, accounting them no more,
Within whose spirit guile has left no trace.
So let the faithful pray while everything
Is near at hand,
before the waters rise,
For mighty floods no sudden harm shall bring.
You are my hiding place beneath the skies,
Protecting me
from every troubling wrong,
Deliverance is singing in Your Eyes.
“I will instruct your path to make you strong,
And counsel you
with ever-watchful sight, To guide your feet where holy ways belong.”
When I kept silent,
locked behind my door,
My bones began to waste and fade away,
My groaning shook the very dust and floor.
For Hand of Thine was heavy,
night and day,
Upon my heart; my vital strength was drained,
Like summer heat that turns the meadows gray.
I spoke my sin,
no longer falsely feigned;
I said, “I will confess before the King,” And You forgave the
guilt that once had pained.
Rejoice, you righteous, in the Lord most pure;
Be glad and sing,
all upright hearts, endure!
