Let’s share a few words about
this incredible man, his name is
Dan
I am lucky to have been able to call him friend,
my brother from another,
my bigger, my nigga,
my
kin!
So where the fuck do we begin then?
Let’s go way back when,
14 again
Birthplace of grizzly luv-in!
it was 89-90, muthafuckin’ 8th grade!
Raging hormones and all,
we hit it off cuz we both liked to draw
We also both liked
bitches and music and just fuckin’ around
Confidence grew, a little ego,
too transitioning in and out of high school
Cigarettes, weed,
partying,
pharmaceutical experimenting
Car crashes,
and shitty ex-girlfriends later,
we’re older
Not necessarily smarter yet
but excessively harder, calloused by a few tough times
Sharp lines and new minds
Even during absent times,
only a phone call away
Friendship never fades, always an honest answer,
always complimentary ideas
Dan spreads his wings before the rest of us knew what that
meant
These bonded years are harder to put into poetry,
memories that can’t all be easily compressed into word play We gotta
fast forward now we’re grown ass men Love again,
chil-dren, past pain and new found unity A brotherhood built on reality
and mental capacity and desire to succeed
A lot more weed and deeper conversations,
elations Bars and steppin’ on scene like superstars You have always faught
the fight, might be alright to ignite the fire in others but
keep the fire burning higher in you!
You deserve the best,
the most, the vest with those buttons,
accomplishments
My brother,
follow your own advice You have given so much guiding everyone else
through hell, now help yourself!
Life has lead us here and now
Time to carve your own path and wow the inner you Draw
a line with a stick or chip away like an ice pick!
Your reward is your presence and the few,
that remind you, and thank you for all that you do you’re
amazing and all the good you’ve done and you deserve all the
best You’ve completed a test,
from the east to the west Give yourself what you’ve given the
rest of the world
