(mmmmm-mmm) Used to measure life in how high I’d climb
In scraped knees, bedtime stories,
summertime
The world was small,
and everything was bright
I knew just what I wanted,
day and night
Now I look in the mirror and someone’s there Half a kid,
half someone I’m yet to wear Familiar face but stranger underneath
Trying to figure out what life really means
Some days I want to run back to the start
Some days I want to fly with all my heart
Caught between the girl I was before
And who I’m hoping I’ll be more and more
Growing up is strange and soft and wild
Learning how to be myself while I’m still the child
Leaving footprints I don’t know the end of Finding out I’m stronger
than I thought of I’m still figuring it out,
still turning the page
Some days I’m scared,
but I feel brave
Not finished yet, not done,
not all sewn up Just growing into who I’m gonna be,
love
I keep old photos tucked inside my drawer
Of days that felt like they would last forevermore
Now plans change like the weather,
friends drift apart
And I learn it’s okay to sometimes fall apart
I make mistakes, I say the wrong thing too I worry I’m
not doing what I’m supposed to But then I take a breath
and keep on going There’s no straight line,
just a road that’s showing
Nobody hands you a map of the way You just step out
and learn as you play
It’s okay to look back,
it’s okay to sigh
It’s okay to wonder who you’ll be by and by The little
girl lives here inside of me
And she’s proud of who I’m starting to be
Growing up is strange and soft and wild
Learning how to be myself while I’m still the child
Leaving footprints I don’t know the end of
Finding out I’m stronger than I thought of I’m still figuring it
out,
still turning the page
Some days I’m scared,
but I feel brave Not finished yet,
not done,
not all sewn up
Just growing into who I’m gonna be,
love One step at a time,
one day at a time
I’m growing up, and I’m doing just fine (doing just fine)
